Absolut Live Motion

On this hallowest of months I've decided to create this piece as a lil' ode to those old b-movie, horror flicks that I love and the awesome posters that they have.
The second of three designs under the theme "Todays Theatre".

Where Do Ideas Come From?

One of the people I work with (Interning! oh yeah!) is organizing a very cool exhibition in Cork City. The Brief Exchange. Twenty three designers, photographers and illustrators make a brief, then the brief is exchanged randomly among the participants. I am not part of the collective... but I did get a nice sneak peak of all the amazing briefs ( I've never said 'brief' so many times in one paragraph. Brief brief brief).
One brief stood out, 'Where Do Ideas Come From?'. So I created this. It is an exercise in maximalism and poses the idea to look where the ideas are really coming from. Her head? Or that little TV? It's about recycling ideas and sometimes not even being aware of it.

Birdthistle

Some concept work I created for a band in my hometown. They blend rhythmic elements of Traditional Irish music with melodic and memorable aspects of Rock. I used such maximalism with this particular portrait (other than the fact that I love a piece one can explore) to create a visual representation of Birdthistles heavily layered sound, Eg Guitars, bass, mandolin, keys, synth, harmonica. The overall goal was to use rather traditional imagery to create a contemporary piece. To check out the band just follow these links;

Acid-House

I found a very old book at my friends house called "The Agony of Ecstasy". An autobiography of someone during the Acid-House scene in Dublin in the early nineties. It tells how he became addicted to ecstasy and LCD and his eventual turn around. I read a bit out of curiosity and quickly found that it was poorly written and could only imagine that it was published for paranoid mothers. I found it so entertaining that I was inspired to do an Acid-House piece.
